How do multilingual families make meaning together? This interaction captures a moment of collaborative sense-making through talk, gesture, and shared attention in a science museum.
I study how multilingual children, families, and educators make meaning together through everyday interaction, and how institutions can learn to recognize and build on those strengths in more equitable ways.
Across science museums, design studios, teacher education, and library storytime, my work asks a common question: how does competence become visible, and how can professionals and institutions learn to notice differently?
Using multimodal interaction analysis, I trace how talk, gesture, gaze, objects, and institutional texts shape participation. This work connects multilingual family learning, professional vision, and the design of more humanizing educational and public spaces.
